Kisses ran with the best older mares on the grounds on 22 April 06 under a wonderfully paced ride by Kate Repp and won by a length going 5 furlongs in 1:03 flat. Included in the field was last years Champion older mare and 4 other Stakes winners.
Among the many good "happenings" that day, Kata's grandfather celebrated his 80th birthday with Kate in the winners circle. Kate's parents were also there. Ramona and Lindsay were there after just arriving from Phoenix. It was a family day with John and Mary Charlton,Vicky James, Mike Pattison and a host of other friends enjoying the race.
It's great when many of our friends were involved in the total process from naming the mare (Vicky ) to me being the Sire of the trainer (Charles) to the whole involvement including Ramona's great support and Lindsay's presence. Manual worked his usual great care and magical handling of Kisses so that she is the happy mare and can perform easily.
There was lots of joy and love in the circle that day.
