Cloudy-with much needed rain

The thoroughbred farm is starting to look like fall. Leaves changing color-river still low-but great green grass all over. We will wean all this years foals starting next week. We wean 2 to a stall so they have company-a buddy- and put them out-hand led- and in daily. The mares will go over past the beaver pond to run and complain about the process. The mares get some penicillin-(to have some antibiotics in the udder) and Superoxide desmutase with Coenzyme Q 10 to reduce the free radicals from stress of weaning-also the foals get SOD +CoQ10 also. As always all mares and foals will be temped daily and the udders palpated for heat-swelling. Foals only holler for 48 hrs- After that, they accept weaning well. Dave coming Tuesday to shoe as always.

Also next week we will start breaking the yearlings. More later on that. Got a little rain this AM—could use some more-a little dry.

Charles is hauling 7-8 head to Phoenix next week to start the fall-winter racing at turf Paradise. Will use new Dodge to pull trailer. This one has big diesel –6 speed-and lots of “wonderful stuff”. Basically, it will pull horses down the road. Charles makes the trip in 2 days—one long pull and a shorter one. Later
