It is raining hard today and Eduvides, Adrianna, and I went to the other side of the beaver pond and brought all into the barn including 5 yearlings, Kate's saddle horse, and 2 broodmares-Bella Rubia and Maliquina.
All then got fall shots-wormings, etc. and were then loaded in the 4 horse trailer and driven up top. Today Andy- the mink manure spreading man brought his gear over and will start spreading tomorrow. Also tomorrow, we will wean 7 mares and babies-worm them- and haul the mares up top and leave the foals in the barn. The first few hours-the babies say--Mom dammit -where are you?- then WHERE ARE YOU?- then pitifully ask -Mon- please where are you? They are weaned 2 to a stall so all have a known factor-a buddy. They asre temped daily (mares and foals) to make sure neither get sick during this stress time for 2-3 months especially the foals. We then keep them in for a week and then they are led in-out AmPM so they can play. Then after 2 months of this-they are turned out in a 10 acre paddock-usually with an old-experienced broodmare to keep them from going teen-aged-rock concert nuts if something unusual happens. Less of them hit the fence that way. People and horses aren't real smart so you need to protect both til they get used to the world. Need to keep what smarts you have.

Sounds like hard and cold work yesterday. Luna, Helen and I went up to an Alpine area (11,000+ feet) and dug Osha for the afternoon. Luna ran and ran and didn't help a DAMN bit in digging. Had a beutiful day. Glad to hear that there are babies to take care of at your house. We had one new baby here, a Alpaca Goat. You'll have to go to my blog to see a pic of it. Click on the link 'soulknitting' from you're page to get there easy! We head home tommorrow. I'll get more pics up of our fun time later. How about some 'rain' shots out of that great front window you have? Hugs, Kim and Luna
